The Break Room
Delivery workers embody the resilience that is to be a New Yorker; always on the go despite any condition. However even heroes need rest, this is where The Break Room steps in to celebrate a comforting escape and brings brightness to winter to be the very first, worker only, pop-up for our food champions.

Rest, get warm, and recharge.
We were tasked to transform a storefront into an inclusive space for all delivery workers to feel appreciated, welcomed and allow them to rest and refuel through the rough winter months.
The food delivery industry has skyrocketed and delivery drivers have been left under appreciated—even with poor weather conditions delivery workers are forced to remain outside despite the hundreds of empty storefronts in New York City. Working together with a well-known fast food company, we transformed an old gym into a place of refuge where delivery workers could park their bikes safely, use the loo, get warm coffee and cozy up in one of our many resting hubs.
Whether workers wanted to do a quick pit stop, or take a complimentary lunch break, delivery workers could warm up in a restorative home away from home.
We partnered with a local NYC artist to create visual impact on what seems like a mundane object but essential to food delivery worker’s day to day. The artist used resin to preserve iconic delivery bags to be held as an art piece to celebrate their daily contributions.
The space was created and operates only for delivery workers, but to show the public’s gratitude we featured native New York delivery worker’s in gallery style frames that blend in with the homey aesthetic.
Each driver’s image had a plaque that gave more information on the workers, in order to foster community.
